1972 Dodge Charger

Description

The Dodge Charger is the epitome of the American muscle car - big, V8 powered and not for the faint of heart. First shown as a concept car in 1964 there have been over 8 generations since it went into production in 1966. For those of a certain age it was the Dukes of Hazzard TV series that made the Charger the poster car for a generation.

This left hand drive 1972 car was sold to its first owner Larry Heafner on the 10th May of that year through City Dodge, North Carolina. Powered by the 318 cc (5.2 litre) V8 through the Torqueflight automatic 3 speed transmission this Special Edition model has the Brougham spec. This gives the Charger a heightened sense of luxury with vinyl roof, the iconic concealed headlights, tinted windows, duel racing mirrors, rally style instruments, luxury high backed seats and the wider ‘C’ pillars resulting in tiny quart lights. A highly effective air conditioning system is still working extremely efficiently and allows you to cruise comfortably. The black interior is a mix of cloth and vinyl with wood inserts and Brougham badging. There is some minor wear but the headlining is in good order with working interior lights.

The Charger was cherished by a number of owners before being sold by Muscle cars For Sale Inc. in 2019 and imported into the U.K.

The high quality paint finish in its original black colour contrasts superbly with the desirable polished American Racing alloy wheels. The original wheels with Goodyear tyres are included with the car. Chrome work is sound and shows no pitting or degradation. Extremely clean and tidy underneath the eye is immediately drawn to the new pair of stainless steel exhausts that emit that captivating V8 sound. I recommend that the car should be viewed on our ramp so potential buyers can be assured of no hidden weak spots.

The original ‘auto wallet’ that accompanies the car contains the original owners handbook, bill of sale and a collection of charming early 1970’s road maps of North Carolina - surely collectable in their own right? A number of invoices are included, the most notable being a gearbox service in 2007, as well as the V5 document. A fantastic looking and sounding machine. M.O.T exempt and taxed as a historic vehicle. Open to near offers.
