1974 PORSCHE 911

Description

Mid 1970’s Porsche 911’s are becoming highly desirable and this 1974 LHD car is an exceptional example. It was originally supplied new through Joe Heishman's Porsche / Audi dealership in Arlington, Virginia and they serviced the car for the first owner, William F. Spanke. He was meticulous in adhering to the service schedule and the original service book reflects this with stamps at the correct mileage intervals. The 911 had been in production for 10 years when in 1974 the first major body change with the impact bumpers was introduced. These were known as the G body cars and they still had the legendary 2.7 litre flat six air cooled engine which had powered the earlier Carrera RS and the manual 5 speed gearbox. The early 1974 cars such as this one (constructed in March ’74) are the most sought after as their performance isn’t restricted by the emissions equipment of the later cars. Producing 150 bhp in a car weighing merely 1034 Kilograms means the performance is exhilarating. The body is in superb condition, looking resplendent in its original Peru Red with stainless steel trim. Nothing has been welded on this car for the simple reason it hasn’t needed to be. A later style boot lid with the iconic rear spoiler has been fitted but otherwise this 911 is highly original with Fuchs alloy wheels, tool kit, original tyre pump, spare wheel and single chrome wing mirror. It also sports the highly desirable, period correct after market Veloce steering wheel. All four tyres are in good condition showing a decent depth of tread. The ignition system has been rebuilt, new gas struts fitted on both the bonnet and engine cover and a new battery installed. The V5 form shows only one previous owner since the car was imported into the U.K. in May 2015. Owned and looked after by a professional in the car restoration business this car is in time warp condition and will be sold with a basic service included. A modern car cover and folder containing the old New Jersey Certificate of Title, current V5 document, U.K. invoices, and past MOT certificates accompanies the car as does the handbook and substantial service record. Inspections welcome. Open to very near offers.
